All of the movies on this list are animated and are rated either G or PG. No PG-13 or rated-R movies were considered. 1. Aladdin (1992)
Aladdin tells the story of a poor street urchin named Aladdin who uses a genie to win the heart of Princess Jasmine, the daughter of the sultan of Agrabah. This story includes a magic lamp, a flying carpet, a pet tiger, and an evil vizier – What more could you need? While there was a live-action remake in 2019, nothing can quite beat the original movie. The original film was composed by Alan Menken and went on to win the Oscar for Best Original Score at the 1993 Academy Awards.
2. Beauty and the Beast (1991)
Beauty and the Beast is a love story between a small-town girl named Belle and the Beast, a former prince who turned into a beast and was banished to his castle. Belle ventures to the castle to find her father, and she offers to stay there in his stead. From there, Belle and the Beast’s relationship grows. A live-action remake of the movie was released in 2017 and stars Dan Stevens, Emma Watson, Luke Evans, and Josh Gad.
3. Big Hero 6 (2014)
Big Hero 6 details the friendship between a boy named Hiro and a robot named Baymax, who collaborate to form a tech-savvy team. Among the themes of this movie are how to cope with loss, what being a hero means, and the importance of friendship.
4. Coco (2017)
Coco follows 12-year-old boy Miguel, who has a passion for music, as he visits his dead relatives on Dia de Los Muertos to get answers about their family’s past. Overall, Coco is a story about family, identity, traditions, and uncovering the truth of our ancestors.

5. Encanto (2021)
Encanto follows the Madrigal family, each blessed with a unique gift. Maribel is the only child without extraordinary power; however, she might be the family’s only hope of saving their magic and the family’s gifts.
6. Finding Nemo (2003)
Finding Nemo follows a clownfish named Marlin and his son, Nemo. Divers capture Nemo after he ventures into the open sea, which ignites an oceanwide search in which Marlin tries to find him (with the help of a blue tang fish named Dory). The sequel, Finding Dory, was released in 2016 and follows Dory as she searches for her long-lost parents.
7. Inside Out (2015)
Inside Out examines a girl named Riley and her emotions—Anger, Joy, Fear, Disgust, and Sadness—as she copes with her family’s move to San Francisco. The sequel, Inside Out 2, will be released in June 2024 and feature a new emotion: anxiety.
8. Frozen (2013)
Frozen focuses on two sisters, Anna and Elsa. Elsa has magical ice powers and accidentally freezes the city of Arendelle. Elsa and Anna must unfreeze the town while reconnecting after their separated childhood. Upon its release, Frozen grossed $1.28 billion worldwide. Frozen 2 later generated $1.45 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing animated movie ever.

9. Moana (2016)
Set in ancient Polynesia, Moana follows a girl named Moana along on her quest to break the curse on her lands incurred by the demigod Maui. Moana and Maui must restore the heart of Te Fiti, breaking the curse and restoring peace to the islands.
10. Monsters, Inc. (2001)
Monsters, Inc. follows two lovable monsters, Mike and Sully, whose job is to scare children – The children’s screams produce enough energy to generate the electricity used to power the city of Monstropolis. When one of the children, Boo, escapes during a routine scare attempt, Mike and Sully must work together to return Boo home safely before they are caught. A prequel, Monsters University, was released in 2013 and depicts Mike and Sully as they meet at university and become friends.
11. Onward (2020)
Onward follows two brothers, Ian and Barley, as they set out on a quest to resurrect their late father. The main themes of the movie are courage, acceptance, and love. The film examines what it would be like to spend one more day with a loved one who you’ve lost.

12. Ratatouille (2007)
Ratatouille follows Remy, an attentive rat, as he befriends a clumsy garbage boy at a high-end restaurant in Paris. Together, Remy and Alfredo Linguini become incredible chefs, fulfilling Remy’s lifelong dream of cooking.

16. The Lion King (1994)
When the lion king Mufasa is killed, his heir Simba flees their kingdom, fearing he is responsible for his father’s death. However, it turns out that Simba’s uncle – Scar – orchestrated the whole thing. Simba eventually returns to his kingdom to stop his evil uncle and take his rightful place on the throne. A coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of the African savannah, The Lion King is one of Disney’s most popular movies. The live-action version was completed in 2019 and quickly became one of Disney’s highest-grossing films of all time, bringing in $1.663 billion at the worldwide box office.
17. The Little Mermaid (1989)
The Little Mermaid follows a mermaid named Ariel who dreams of living on land like humans. She makes a deal with an evil sea witch named Ursula, who grants Ariel legs in exchange for her voice. On land, Ariel falls in love with Prince Eric, who later helps her retrieve her voice and save her kingdom. The film’s live-action remake was completed in 2023 and stars Halle Bailey, Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy, and Jonah Hauer-King.
18. Toy Story (1995)
Toy Story follows Woody – a lovable cowboy – and Buzz – a space ranger action figure – as they compete to be the best toy in Andy’s Room. The first movie in the franchise was released in 1995, followed by Toy Story 2 (1999), Toy Story 3 (2010), and Toy Story 4 (2019).
