4. Beau is Afraid (2023)

Besides Midsommar and Hereditary, another Ari Aster film under A24 is Beau is Afraid. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, the story follows the theme of a lonely man who’s had mommy issues. They said it’s one of Ari Aster’s best and worst at the same time. It’s also like Idiocracy on an extreme level due to the presence of violence and nudity.

Just like any Ari Aster’s work, it also plays your mind with vague scenes and witnessing somebody with torturing thoughts and on the verge of insanity. It’s all about overcoming fear and anxiety after the death of his mother. Of course, there are unexpected turns you can anticipate from this one.

5. Terrified (2017)

The events of the movie call into question the truthfulness and sanity of almost every one of the characters. As various tragic events occur, blame is shifted from person to person, and only glimpses of the truth come through until the end. According to a few viewers, the film is masterfully crafted, peeling each character slowly as the scene goes on. The film’s rich visuals and storytelling make it straight to the viewer’s hearts.

11. Oppenheimer (2023)

With a budget of $100 million, the movie grossed almost $1 billion. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the 2023 thriller film explores the life of Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist, and his role in the Manhattan Project.

Oppenheimer served as the head of the Los Alamos Laboratory and played a key role in overseeing the research and development of an atomic bomb. He is commonly referred to as the “father of the atomic bomb.”
