21 Best Movies That Feature Chris Pratt, in Order
Since the days of Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt has been both America’s sweetheart and funny man for the past decade. Getting his big break in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt’s star has been on the rise ever since.
With his roles in films such as Avengers: Endgame, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, The Lego Movie, and the Jurassic World franchise, Pratt is securing his place as not only a household name, but also as one of the most consistent and prolific actors in blockbuster filmmaking right now.
Today, we’ll be taking a look at some of his best films as well as some of his worst, tracking the peaks and valleys of one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood right now.
1. Moneyball (2011)
This Aaron Sorkin-penned baseball drama is one of the few films to actually make the act of baseball compelling. Pratt plays Boston Red Sox first basemen Scott Hatteberg, giving an absolutely electric performance in a sea of compelling performances. One of the best movies of the past decade.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume Two (2017)
This is where it all comes together! James Gunn’s space opera sees Pratt searching for his father, only to discover that his real family is the people he’s met along the way. Easily the best film in the MCU, not least because it contains Pratt’s best performance.
3. Jennifer’s Body (2009)
Karyn Kusama’s cult classic follows Jennifer (Megan Fox), a high schooler who gets possessed by a succubus and begins wreaking havoc on her high school classmates. Pratt plays a minor supporting role as a police officer investigating the murders that the titular Jennifer is committing. An extremely fun watch!

4. Movie 43 (2013)
Despite its reputation, Movie 43 is a hilarious anthology film in the vein of The Groove Tube or Kentucky Fried Movie. Pratt’s sketch, which pairs him with real-life partner Anna Farris as a couple that has to wrestle with a newfound poop fetish. A funny sketch in a funny movie!
5. The Lego Movie (2014)
An extremely clever, gorgeously animated children’s film that sees Pratt returning to his roots in comedy. This metatextual odyssey is something that new generations will be returning to again and again, thanks in no small part to Pratt’s lead performance!
6. Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
Kathryn Bigelow’s epic about the manhunt for Osama bin Laden sees Pratt as the heavy of the Navy team responsible for the death of bin Laden. In this way, Pratt is integral to the film’s anti-torture thesis. An incredible film well worth seeking out.

7. Jurassic World (2015)
Colin Trevorrow’s reboot of the Jurassic Park series gives Pratt the chance to play as the leading man of a big, relatively serious, action film. A mean-spirited return to form for the series, this pleasing first installment of the new trilogy is sure to leave fans of this decades-long series hungry for more.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
This is the one that started it all! It’s a testament to Pratt’s charisma that he carried this at-the-time obscure comic book saga into the legendary series that it is today. A light romp from the days when the MCU actually meant something.
9. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
The first part of the Avengers duology hinges on incredible performances from its central ensemble, and Pratt certainly brings the heat here as Star-Lord! A fun watch!

10. The Magnificent Seven (2016)
This film is Antoine Fuqua’s remake of John Sturge’s iconic 1960 Western, and we see Chris Pratt filling Steve McQueen’s shoes. Though stacking up to an actor that iconic is a tall order, Pratt is up to the task, bringing his characteristic charisma and humor to this classic men-on-a-mission story.
11. Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 (2023)
This send-off to the Guardians sees Pratt at his most sentimental, with much of the film focusing on grief and longing, and his eventual acceptance of the fact that nothing lasts forever. A fitting tribute for this iconic team; and here’s hoping we see more of them in the future.
12. Passengers (2016)
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt star in this sci-fi romance about two people traveling to a distant colony in space that, due to a system malfunction, wake up from their cryochambers 90 years too early. While it doesn’t play well as the sci-fi romance it aims to be, the film soars as a sci-fi thriller, giving Pratt the chance to play a creep that sends a woman to her doom after manipulating her into loving him.

13. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018)
The middle child of the Jurassic World franchise is a bit uneven, though it’s at its best in the second half, which gives Pratt and company the opportunity to play around in what is, essentially, a slasher movie with dinosaurs. Director J.A. Bayona puts his horror experience to great use here, shoving a bunch of helpless victims in a mansion as dinosaurs pick them off one-by-one. Uneven, sure, but an absolute blast when it finally kicks into gear.
14. The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019)
Coming five years after the first film, this second installment in the Lego Movie franchise feels a bit tired, with Pratt’s character, Emmett, given nothing to do but recycle jokes from the first film. Lovely to look at, but frequently airless.
15. Bride Wars (2009)
This breezy 2009 comedy is about two lifelong friends who quickly turn into enemies as the two race to see who can get married first. Here’s another supporting performance from Pratt as Fletcher, one of the titular bride’s fiancées. In a low-stakes role like this, he gets a chance to really sharpen his comedic chops for the star turns he’d go on to take later in his career.

16. The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Illumination’s adaptation of the iconic video game character, is the second silver screen appearance of Mario, after Bob Hoskin’s turn as Mario in the 1993 film of the same name. This time, Pratt is the titular lead. His charisma carries him through this energetically animated romp, though Pratt not being Italian feels like a real fly in the ointment here.
17. Onward (2020)
This animated effort from Pixar Studios, released just as the world was shutting down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, follows two brothers (Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, respectively) on an epic quest to find their missing father. The film is gorgeously animated and the performances are serviceable, even if it ultimately feels like a regurgitation of a plot we’ve seen done much better elsewhere.
18. Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
It seems like 2022 was not a good year for Chris Pratt. Taika Waititi’s return to the Thor franchise sees everyone running on autopilot, with Pratt and his Guardians of the Galaxy showing up for what is, no doubt, the best scene of the film. Lifeless comedy and a dull “save the children” plot make this late-period Marvel Studios effort a chore to sit through.

19. Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)
The third film in the Jurassic World trilogy is also its weakest, giving Owen (Pratt) nothing to do in the greater scope of the film. Add onto this a healthy heaping of nostalgia bait and a dull plot spotlighting genetically engineered locusts instead of dinosaurs, this is one blockbuster that should have gone extinct.
20. Delivery Man (2013)
This 2013 comedy starring Vince Vaughn, centering on a slacker who discovers that he’s the father of 500 children, sees Pratt in a supporting turn as Vaughn’s lawyer friend, Brett. While the film itself is pretty disposable, it’s fun to see Pratt flex his comedic muscles.
21. The Tomorrow War (2021)
This sci-fi action film, released directly to Amazon’s Prime Video, sees Chris Pratt as the leader of a group of time travelers from the year 2051. This militia group must go back in time thirty years in order to prevent an alien war that mankind is going to lose. Extremely dull with an affectless turn from Pratt, the film ultimately suffers from being a cliché-riddled mess.
